I am a freelance production manager, technical stage manager and lighting designer.
I have worked in professional theatre for about eighteen years in a wide range of genres from site specific to relights, from outdoors to nightclubs, from naturalistic to physical theatre, from fringe to children's theatre, from circus to theme parks. I believe these and others have given me a wide ranging understanding of what is required to put on a technically successful production.
I have recently spent a year as Technical and stage manager for the new 450 seat theate at The American School in London, productions included Leo Richardson's new play, "Prettiest Friend" . I am currently the Production manager/TSM at Highgate school, a flexible position that leaves me available for other work.
Prior to this I production managed four productions for Theatre Peckham(Formerly NPV Arts at the Magic Eye Theatre); Late Night Movie, The House Fairy, The Kings of Temple Midden and Mrs Plug the Plumber. I also production managed and lit "A Bloodless Field" at the Old Operating Theatre museum in London. This was a site specific production for Metal and Bone productions in association with the Wellcome Trust and leading surgeons. I also stage managed and lit a new play for Epsilon Productions, "Fun Like Stalingrad" by Len Pentin. I also recently lit another new play, "Late Bus" at UEA, Norwich and Pinocchio the musical, as well as "And then they came for me-remembering Anne Frank" and "Grease".
I enjoy working in the theatre and always aim to take a collaborative approach to my work. I enjoy seeing the artistic and design visions coming together and relish whatever part I can play in that.
I am a technical all rounder having toured as both a stage manager and technician. I can operate shows from a wide range of desks and sources. I can light shows, relight shows and am happy working at height. I am a competent set builder and prop maker with a hardworking and energetic approach to my work.
I am happy to consider paid work in all types of theatre, including fringe. No profit share please.
I hold an honours degree in Drama from Liverpool John Moores University and also work as a drama tutor with children in the East London Area.
I am a member of both Equity and the Stage Management Association and have a full enhanced CRB check dated December 2009. I am a qualified first aider, having successfully completed the 3 day First aid at work course in 2010.
I live in Stepney, East London with my beautiful wife Catherine and my fantastic two year old boy, Liam.
